The Oak Frame House
The design brief for this project was to maximise the space availability with at least a master bedroom suite and to transform a classic glass conservatory into a usable space that is not too cold or too hot depending on the season.
Situated deep in the New Forest National Park Authority, this project faced the challenge of the NFNPA 30% rule, which limits the extent of development based upon the floor plan in 1982. We overcame this issue by designing a first floor extension for the master bedroom to enable this space to be at first floor with all the other bedrooms. The conservatory was re-roofed with an insulated traditional roof.
Both aspects were brought together with some beautiful oak frame truss work using a scissor truss. Oak cladding was also introduced externally along with a small balcony to enjoy the views across the paddock.
